My Mind's Eye: Poetry & Visual Art on Social Justice, Philosophy and Identity is an interdisciplinary book filled with vivid, original artwork and beautifully written poetry. The book includes all original poetry with paired with beautiful paintings created by Topaz Hooper. The paintings often compliment the poetry which add to the depth and impact of the novel. The poems themselves are written on topics of social justice, philosophy, and identity. Topaz Hooper identifies as a queer, woman of color and writes from the lens of her life experience. You could say the book is much like a memoire, diary or something of the sort. She touches on growing up in a queer friendly household, life as a person of color at a predominately white college, philosophy on world injustice, love and heartbreak, and her journey as an artist and entrepreneur.
